We discovered Java Pura Coffee Roasters at a tasting at Central Market and now go out of our way to get to their offices in the industrial district in Bellaire just to stock the office. (Though not really geared for walk-in traffic, the offices are quite nice, and they sponsor tastings.) Java Pura's master roaster, from Portland, Oregon (where else?), is training others in his skills, which include knowing just when enough flavor has been released. (Hint: Listen for the cracking sound.)
I am extremely honored to be picked as the coffee roaster of the year by Houston Press! Java PURA has always strived for the best quality and will continue to. I would love to say more but I must get back to this roast...

JAVA PURA Named Best Coffee Roaster by the Houston Press
Synesso Machines
We were in Seattle a while back doing a 'recon' of some of our favorite coffee shops when we noticed many were using a machine they felt was superior to all others. The machine as it turns out was a Synesso and to our taste made fantastic espresso. The baristas we talked to all loved the machine; its ease of use, its industrial art look, but most important to them was the perfect shots it consistently produced.
