Finca el Socorro

Farmer: Juan Diego de la Cerda
Altitude: 5,000- 6,500 ft

Obsessed with quality, Juan Diego de la Cerda (the 5th generation operating Finca El Soccoro) oversees every aspect of his operation, and his passion definitely shows up in the cup, as well as in an impressive list of awards; 1st Place 2007 Guatemala Cup of Excellence, 3rd & 4th Place 2008 Cup of Excellence, 10th Place 2009 Cup of Excellence, 4th Place 2010 Cup of Excellence, 2011 SCAA Coffee of The Year, 1st Place 2011 Cup of Excellence Presidential Award, 2nd 2012 Place Cup of Excellence, and the list goes on. We met Juan Diego, and his beautiful wife Gabriella, in March of 2017 while visiting our friends Dr. Raul Molina & his son Alejandro at their farm, San Victor. Upon arriving at Juan Diego’s farm, nestled high in the Palencia municipality, and seeing his ultra-healthy coffee plants, as well as his mill in ‘full swing’ (it was heart of the harvest season), we knew we were in for a treat. This single varietal washed Pacamara is a testament to Juan Diego’s commitment to not only quality, but also to producing rare and fine specialty coffees.
