We began working with Oscar and Francesca in 2013, buying various of their micro-lots ever since. Truly dedicated to their craft, we’ve loved every lot we’ve ever bought from these true Costa Rica ‘innovators’. This year’s Perla Negra (Black Pearl) natural process (dried in the cherry) coffee is no exception. Situated in Central Valley of Costa Rica, high on the flanks of Poas, one of 4 volcanos overlooking San Jose, their farm, and mill, Las Lajas is breathtaking. We absolutely love visiting them every year, as they always have something new they’re experimenting with, and wanting us to cup! It’s always a treat spending time with Oscar, Francesca and their beautiful family, cupping coffees in their state of the art cupping room (really now a ‘cupping lab’), and catching up on the past year’s news.
