Madagascar Soavinandriana

Java Pura

$30.00 Sale price

This microlot is sourced from the Royal Coffee Crown Jewel Collection, a very special offering that supplies only the highest quality coffees in very small lots from around the world.  We were fortunate to come across this coffee offering from Madagascar, an origin that has long eluded us as Malagasy speciality arabica is extremely rare to find.  Ninety percent of the coffee Madagascar produces is Coffea Canephora or “Robusta” coffee.  Madagascar only produces ten percent arabica for export, and only a small percentage of that arabica production is exported as speciality grade.

“This lot is from Soavinandriana, in the Itasy region, grown by about 40 local Malagasy producers and centrally processed by Ryan Kelley’s Madagascar Coffee Company.  As with smallholders the world over, these coffee producers are cultivating coffee on tiny plots, less than a hectare in size, and intercropping with a mix of diversified agriculture including rice, maize, beans, cassava, local vegetables, avocados, citrus, and bananas.  The varieties of coffee grown are locally adapted red and yellow Bourbons and some Catimor selections.” - Royal Coffee

This is a very limited release with a very small amount, so roasting production is limited to two small batches.  Once we are out of this coffee we will be out permanently, so grab a bag while you can!

5% of all profits from sales of this coffee will go to support local communities in Madagascar
